Race Report – Drinks at The Loft

It was a cold, miserable night at The Loft. Just the perfect weather for such an event.  Although, there was plenty of confusion at the start – largley caused by a failure to recognise squad members wearing ‘grown-up’ clothes instead of the usual lycra and coolmax running-wear. Additionally, the removal of sunglasses and hats made recognition even harder, with many people introducing themselves to people they already knew. Who knew Brendan had so much hair tucked up under that hat. […]

A race according to plan: TNF2012

The Beautiful Blue Mountains Anyone who knows me or runs with me is used to my ramblings about The North Face 100k by now so when Charlie asked me to write a blog post about my race I was more than happy to oblige. This year, 2012, was my third, and possibly final year, running TNF 100 – although the first thing I said to my wife when I crossed the line was that I have to come back to […]

North Face 100

The North Face 100 is on this coming weekend. The race is 100k through the beautiful Blue Mountains and has attracted 1000 runners this year which makes it the biggest trail ultra in Australia (actually the biggest ultra full stop). At the risk of upsetting Chairman Tom (who refers to these events as “bushwalking” not running) it should be pointed out that 3 HuRTs (correct me if I have missed anybody) runners, Andrew Tuckey, Jonathan Worswick and Rob Costello will […]

Kenya’s marathon team announced: No World # 1 or World Record holder

From Ross Tucker An interesting point from last week was the announcement of Kenya’s Olympic marathon team. On the women’s side, there’s perhaps less controversy, with the brilliant Mary Keitany the first name down, followed by Edna Kiplagat and Priscah Jeptoo. They showed form and class in London, and perhaps only Sharon Cherop, who won Boston the week before, can feel a little hard done by. But on the men’s side, it was always going to be a mighty difficult […]
